[ After he walks inside, she's awkwardly standing there for a hot second as she tries to remember what to actually do. There's a guy in her room now, and while that shouldn't really be a surprise, she blanks on what to do next. As if the realization of it all has finally settled in.
She recovers quickly and softly laughs to herself at how he bought all the flavors. And, of course, a touch of guilt. She really should've specified what flavors she likes so he didn't have to go to all that trouble. Though is it really so bad if he seemingly doesn't mind? ]
I do feel better. Some lingering aftereffects, but I can handle it.
[ As she speaks, she pulls a small table out from her closet. It was perhaps a kids table once upon a time, but now it's the perfect thing to set down between the side of her bed and the TV. Since she has no sofa, that's the only place it can really go. ]
[ no reason to feel guilty— hell, it's never a waste to have too many donuts! she underestimates how much he can inhale in one sitting, but perhaps it's not the best idea to be this gross during a date; sticky fingers and uncontrollable belches is ... yeah. let's not. denji will behave. he will be a gentleman. yup. ]
You look good, though. If there is anything I can do to help ... let me know.
[ he chose to trust her words, stupidly depending on what he could see from the outside and kaede didn't seem ... hurt? maybe she is okay after all. for now, he will keep an eye on her to further reassure himself. the kiddy table made him chuckle, definitely not mocking her but somewhat finding it endearing. it's so small! denji happily followed through and placed the box on the surface ... he then dragged it closer to the side of her bed. that might give kaede a clue of what will follow, and that's when denji shrugged off his jacket, kicked off his shoes, and-
[ She feels bad for lying, even if it's a white lie. The aftereffects of the surgery have her still wanting to be near someone, anyone, and she can only hope that just sitting there with him will be enough. ]
I will, yeah.
[ Well, she might as well try it and see. That is, after she gets over the temporary shock of seeing a guy just...flopped on her bed. All the more reason for her to grab a donut and start nibbling on it as she slides onto her bed next to him. She starts up the movie, but her gaze keeps shifting between it, her snack, and Denji. Though she definitely keeps the latter in just the corner of her eye. Can't be too obvious, of course. ]
[ he also grabs himself a treat, going for the sugar power topping, careful not to make a mess on her bed as he takes one big bite after another. listen, he's not oblivious - a girl inviting a guy to her room can only cover a few reasons that all lead to chasing intimacy. the question is: is it platonic or more? the last time he asked so boldly ended up with an outburst, so he's unsure if he should be that forward again.
maybe he shouldn't think about it too much. as the movie begins, denji shifts so he can prop a pillow against the bedframe, using it as a cozy cushion to lean on— one donut is already gone. it's delicious. 10/10. he wonders if his date agrees. he turns to glance at her, leaning in a bit. ]
Do you like it? Or, should we leave them a bad review?
[ Lucy's taken by the movie near instantly. A different country, a different time, big hair and dated clothes, but the acting is really good. Also good is the donut, the flavor of which doesn't overstay its welcome like she sometimes fears with stronger sweets.
She's still slow in eating it, however. A mixture between savoring it and being absorbed in the film. Yet when Denji speaks up, she does look genuinely pleased if the little smile she has is any indication. ]
