I have to be strict. You tried to fucking kill me, man. [ said so casually but with a jab. this might give the impression that denji is not that keen to be forgiving, yet willing to indulge if he's promised a reward in return. in which, he digs through the box and picks a random selection, which happened to have some colorful sprinkles on the top.

[ It makes sense that it wouldn't be that easy. At least Denji is accepting the gift rather than tossing it all on the ground. Kabru doesn't response to that jab, but he does look apologetic.

[ he nods and resists the urge to use the back of his fingers like a hooligan, but after some brief thought— he does accept the napkin from the other man. this might have to do with the sugar rush, or the mild dopamine he was blessed with after that delicious bite, whatever it might be, denji didn't feel like slamming the door shut just yet. ]

The best way to deal with someone who doesn't trust you is to respond with some honesty. The fact that he thinks about his approach before responding might be disingenuous in itself, but this is just a habit for Kabru. ]

[ calling him 'kind' is less flattering than 'strong' — only because denji didn't believe himself to be one, yet it did stir something from within. not that he would voice it out, especially to kabru, but he also had a simple approach to figuring out whether the person was worthy of his trust, and its through acts of kindness; genuine ones. it was a tad difficult to figure out if the man in front of him was sincere, but-

[ Kabru can pick up on the way his expression softens. This is a success! While he was being honest, honesty can be used as a tool the same way lies can. He predicted that his honestly would gain him favour and some forgiveness. ]
